Prof. Dr. Jiawei Xiang received his academic training in mechanical engineering. From 2006 to 2012, he served as Associate Professor and later Professor at the School of Mechanical Engineering, Guilin University of Electronic Science and Technology. Between 2010 and 2013, he held postdoctoral and visiting scholar positions at the University of Ottawa (Canada), Nagoya University (Japan) as a JSPS scholar, and Hannover University (Germany) as a Humboldt scholar. Since 2012, he has been a Professor at Wenzhou University, where he currently serves as Dean of the School of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering and Dean of the Laser and Optoelectronic Intelligent Manufacturing Research Institute. His research topics mainly include numerical simulation methods (finite and boundary element methods), high-performance component modeling and error traceability, mechanical structural defect detection and diagnosis, vibration and noise control in electromechanical systems, mechanical signal processing using new-generation artificial intelligence, and intelligent operation and maintenance systems. He is also an IET Fellow who has published more than 300 international journal papers with more than 10,000 citations.
