Aljoša Bolje is a Research Assistant at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Ljubljana, Slovenia. He received a B.Sc. in Chemistry (2011) and a PhD in Organic Chemistry (2015) from the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology, University of Ljubljana. During his PhD, he studied 1,2,3-triazolium salts and their use in coordination chemistry for catalytic and bio-applications. He did his postdoctoral studies on N-heterocyclic carbene metal complexes in 2016 with Prof. Sarkar at the Free University of Berlin. He then worked at the National Institute of Chemistry in Ljubljana, where he was developing new bio-based monomers as well as novel iron catalysts for polymerization. For his PhD thesis, he received the "Krka Prize for Special Achievements in Research" (2015) and "Maks Samec Prize for the best doctoral thesis" (2016). He is currently leading the research project "Structural characterization of proteins in solid pharmaceutical forms" (funded by the EU).
