This paper proposes a new generative adversarial network for infrared and visible image fusion based on semantic segmentation (SSGAN), which can consider not only the low-level features of infrared and visible images, but also the high-level semantic information. Source images can be divided into foregrounds and backgrounds by semantic masks. The generator with a dual-encoder-single-decoder framework is used to extract the feature of foregrounds and backgrounds by different encoder paths. Moreover, the discriminator’s input image is designed based on semantic segmentation, which is obtained by combining the foregrounds of the infrared images with the backgrounds of the visible images. Consequently, the prominence of thermal targets in the infrared images and texture details in the visible images can be preserved in the fused images simultaneously. Qualitative and quantitative experiments on publicly available datasets demonstrate that the proposed approach can significantly outperform the state-of-the-art methods.

Accurately predicting severe accident data in nuclear power plants is of utmost importance for ensuring their safety and reliability. However, existing methods often lack interpretability, thereby limiting their utility in decision making. In this paper, we present an interpretable framework, called GRUS, for forecasting severe accident data in nuclear power plants. Our approach combines the GRU model with SHAP analysis, enabling accurate predictions and offering valuable insights into the underlying mechanisms. To begin, we preprocess the data and extract temporal features. Subsequently, we employ the GRU model to generate preliminary predictions. To enhance the interpretability of our framework, we leverage SHAP analysis to assess the contributions of different features and develop a deeper understanding of their impact on the predictions. Finally, we retrain the GRU model using the selected dataset. Through extensive experimentation utilizing breach data from MSLB accidents and LOCAs, we demonstrate the superior performance of our GRUS framework compared to the mainstream GRU, LSTM, and ARIMAX models. Our framework effectively forecasts trends in core parameters during severe accidents, thereby bolstering decision-making capabilities and enabling more effective emergency response strategies in nuclear power plants.

Infrared and visible image fusion needs to preserve both the salient target of the infrared image and the texture details of the visible image. Therefore, an infrared and visible image fusion method based on saliency detection is proposed. Firstly, the saliency map of the infrared image is obtained by saliency detection. Then, the specific loss function and network architecture are designed based on the saliency map to improve the performance of the fusion algorithm. Specifically, the saliency map is normalized to [0, 1], used as a weight map to constrain the loss function. At the same time, the saliency map is binarized to extract salient regions and nonsalient regions. And, a generative adversarial network with dual discriminators is obtained. The two discriminators are used to distinguish the salient regions and the nonsalient regions, respectively, to promote the generator to generate better fusion results. The experimental results show that the fusion results of our method are better than those of the existing methods in both subjective and objective aspects.

Image deformation refers to deforming objects in images into a target shape or posture. Although point-based image deformation algorithms have made breakthroughs in performance and visual effects, they are limited to warping the current structure information in the source image. For example, while opening a closed mouth in a face deformation, the point-based algorithm cannot generate teeth, which causes the mouth to twist weirdly. Deep learning-based face editing models can generate new parts but cannot achieve fine pixel-level manipulation. To overcome these challenges, we propose a two-step strategy for face deformation. We first generate a high-resolution intermediate image by blending the source image and the specific part of the target image via our face blending generative adversarial network (FB-GAN). Then, we employ a state-of-the-art point-based geometric deformation method to deform the intermediate image with target face guidance. Extensive experiments show that the proposed FB-GAN can generate realistic and high-resolution results and demonstrates that the two-step face deformation strategy can be better applied to human face deformation.

Automating system-level nuclear thermal-hydraulic (T-H) model construction remains challenging because platform-specific API syntax, graph connectivity, parameter dependency ordering, and solver admissibility must be satisfied simultaneously. This study develops a closed-loop modeling framework on the SAFRI platform by combining supervised fine-tuning (SFT), a Plan-and-Act agent with retrieval-grounded parameter completion, and reinforcement learning based on group relative policy optimization (GRPO). The SFT stage uses a 6003-record domain corpus derived from expert-authored or expert-verified SAFRI modeling exemplars, while system-level generalization is evaluated on a held-out 50-case in-house evaluation set separated at the case-template level. At the component level, LoRA-adapted Qwen3-8B achieves 100% code accuracy, compared with 50% for zero-shot and 74% for one-shot prompting. At the system level, the SFT agent attains a 100% syntax success rate (SSR), 90% topology success rate (TSR), and 72.4% physical convergence rate (PCR), showing that local API correctness is insufficient for solver-valid model assembly. After GRPO training with schema, topology, physics, and sequence rewards, the full SAFRI-SFT-RL agent reaches a 100% SSR, 100% TSR, and 88.8% PCR on the in-house evaluation set, while an error self-healing loop resolves execution-time failures in an average of 2.3 corrective iterations. These results show that solver-grounded reinforcement learning is effective for closing the gap between syntactically correct script generation and physically convergent nuclear T-H model construction.
