Harald Kloft has been a professor of structural design at the Technical University of Braunschweig since 2011. He understands structural design as a synthesis of material, process, and form. As a graduate structural engineer, he has extensive experience in research, teaching, and construction practice at the interface of architecture and structural design. In 2002, he co-founded the engineering firm OSD—Office for Structural Design—and played a key role in pioneering structural design for free-form architecture in the early 2000s, including the Kunsthaus Graz. Harald Kloft's interdisciplinary research at the Institute of Structural Engineering (ITE) has been widely published and focuses on innovative digital construction technologies such as Shotcrete 3D Printing, Hybrid WAAM, and Robotic Rammed Earth, as well as their interaction with material and form. Since 2020, he has been spokesperson for the DFG-funded Collaborative Research Centre TRR 277 Additive Manufacturing in Construction, which was founded by the Universities of Braunschweig and Munich.
