Biography

I am a plant scientist whose research focuses on conservation biology, floristics, plant ecology, and biodiversity, with particular interest in plant diversity, species distribution, and the ecological and biogeographical processes shaping plant communities. My research combines field botany and floristic exploration with taxonomic, ecological, and biogeographical approaches, with particular attention to rare, endemic, threatened, geographically restricted, and poorly documented taxa, as well as populations at the margins of their distribution ranges. I am particularly interested in long-term floristic monitoring, range shifts, and the identification of populations of biogeographical and conservation significance. My research interests also include vegetation science, plant biogeography, forest and disturbance ecology, invasive alien species, ecological restoration, and plant responses to environmental and climate-related stress. Although Mediterranean ecosystems are an important focus of my research, my scientific experience encompasses different geographical regions, ecosystems, and environmental contexts. Overall, my work integrates floristics, taxonomy, biogeography, and ecology to advance knowledge of plant diversity and ecosystem dynamics and to provide a scientific basis for biodiversity conservation, sustainable habitat management, and ecological restoration in a changing environment.
