Prof. Zlatko Fras holds the position of Medical Director, Division of Internal Medicine, University Medical Centre Ljubljana, and Professor of Internal Medicine, Medical Faculty, University of Ljubljana. He was awarded his academic (MD (1990), MSc (1994), and Ph.D. (2008)) degrees at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Ljubljana (FM-UL), and is a licensed Specialist in both Internal Medicine and Cardiology and Vascular Medicine. His clinical activities encompass different aspects of CV medicine, while his scientific work is focused on atherosclerosis and disorders of lipid metabolism, epidemiology, and preventive cardiology. From 2008 he has helds the position of Medical Director, Division of Medicine, at the UMC Ljubljana, and Professor of Internal Medicine (Circulation), at the FM-UL (Chair of Internal Medicine). He is state-appointed Chairman of the Slovene National Programme on CVD Prevention and President of the Slovenian Society of Cardiology. In 2001he was elected a Fellow of the ESC, and in 2013 a Fellow of the ACC. He served as President of the UEMS (2006-11).
