Eduardo Teixeira holds a PhD in Physical Activity and Health (2017) from the Faculty of Sports of the University of Porto (FADEUP), where he investigated the sedentary behavior effects on skeletal muscle repair, in an animal model, focusing on the regulatory effects of muscle recruitment on the immune system response. He holds a B.Sc. in Sports Sciences and an M.Sc. in Physical Activity and Health from the same institution. Currently, he is an associated researcher at the Research Centre in Physical Activity, Health and Leisure (CIAFEL), at FADEUP, Portugal. Currently, he is addressing two main research fields: (1) exercise and sedentary behavior effects on skeletal muscle quality, and (2) exercise biomonitoring and non-invasive exercise physiology. His research group is studying the effects of exercise and physical activity on skeletal muscle quality and function in health and disease. They are also researching the scientific value of non-invasive biomarkers as a strategy to monitor acute exercise-induced alterations, comparing blood biomarkers with those present in saliva, sweat, and tears.
