Dr. Nahum Méndez-Sánchez is a Professor for the Master’s and
PhD Medical Science programs at the School of Medicine, as well as the MD and
PhD programs at UNAM. He is also a Researcher at the Liver Unit of Medica
Sur Clinic and Foundation in Mexico City. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree,
Master’s degree, and Ph.D. degree in Medicine from the National Autonomous
University of Mexico, as well as the “Gabino Barreda” medal award. He has been
President of the Mexican Association of Hepatology and the Latin American
Association for the Study of the Liver and Governor for Mexico of the ACG. He
has been awarded the title of Emeritus Researcher of the National System of Investigators
(SNI) from the National Council of Science and Technology (CONACyT), Mexico
2023. He is also a Member of the Fellow American College of Gastroenterology
(FACG), Fellow American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (FAASLD), Fellow
American Gastroenterological Association (AGAF), Honorary member of the Latin
American Association for the Study of the Liver (ALEH), and Academic of the
Mexican Academy of Sciences (AMC). He has more than 300 articles published in
PUBMED. His research interests mainly include obesity and the metabolic syndromes
associated with liver and gastrointestinal diseases.
