Biography

Denis Biard has successfully created various outstanding cell models, mainly in the field of cancer research and DNA repair (before 2012) and thereafter concerning neurodegenerative disorders and related genes involved in cancers (2012-2021). Since 1992, D. Biard has created and validated more than 4,000 replicative pEBV plasmids in order to stably modify the genotype of human cells in culture for mimicking human syndromes. Especially, he has developed the pEBVsiRNA plasmids (patent PCT/FR2006/000330) for imposing a very long term gene silencing in human cells in culture. He has created the first library of stable knock down human cells (SilenciX cells; http://silencix.com/). With more than 220 targeted human genes and a dozen of rodent genes, numerous collaborations, and a valorisation process, Denis Biard has created the conditions for a good expertise in the field of RNAi and at a larger extent in the handling of pEBV plasmids in numerous human cells. Since 2012 he has developed a new approach on one neurodegenerative disorder, the Cockayne syndrome (patent WO2015121459) in collaboration with the Institut Pasteur (Paris) et the Institut G. Roussy (Villejuif). Denis Biard has enlarged his approach to primary human cells (IPS) and minibrain in collaboration with Sup’Biotech (Villejuif). In 2015, he establishes a fruitful collaboration with the CRRET laboratory (UPEC University) on the Azheimer disease related to heparan sulfates.
