I obtained Ph.D. in the field of chemistry from the Vilnius University Faculty of Chemistry in 2003. At the Institute of Biotechnology, Department of Biothermodynamics and Drug Design, I started to synthesize and investigate resorcinol-based compounds as Hsp90 inhibitors. During this time, I gradually shifted my focus to the thorough examination of molecular recognition in protein-ligand interactions by applying different biochemical and biophysical approaches. I put significant emphasis on the importance of the intrinsic thermodynamics of inhibitor binding and the dissection of the binding-linked protonation reactions. I have experience in studying various protein systems, including heat shock proteins, carbonic anhydrases, HDACs, metalloproteinases, etc.
