Núria Parés received a degree in mathematics from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, Barcelona, Spain, in 1999, and Ph.D. degree in applied mathematics from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, Barcelona, in 2005. She is currently an associate professor/full professor with the LaCàN–Mathematical and Computational Modeling group, Department of Mathematics, Barcelona East School of Engineering (EEBE), Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC). She is also a teaching collaborator at the Open University of Catalonia (UOC), Barcelona. Her research interests include computational methods in applied sciences and engineering, the development of the finite element method with accuracy control, adaptive methods, stochastic simulation, pattern recognition, and machine learning for data science.
