Alexandre Sérgio Silva has a PhD in Motricity Sciences at UNESP-Rio and is a professor at the Federal University of Paraíba and has been awarded a CNPq Productivity Scholarship (PQ-2). They are a permanent Professor of Postgraduate Programs (Master and Doctorate) in Physical Education and Nutrition Sciences. They investigate physiological, genetic, nutritional and methodological factors that modulate the effect of training on blood pressure, glycemic responses and the magnitude of weight loss that can be obtained with physical training. The research work also addresses the potential of physiological monitoring tools for diagnosis and control of training loads for high-performance and recreational athletes, in addition to the potential for fresh foods as an ergogenic resource for improving performance or post-training recovery of these athletes.
