Andrea Fuso, Ph.D., is associate professor of clinical biochemistry and molecular biology at Dept. of Experimental Medicine, Sapienza University of Rome. He graduated in biological sciences in 1997 and with his Ph.D. in enzymology in 2001. He teaches clinical biochemistry and molecular biology at medical schools at Sapienza University and is the author of more than 80 scientific papers and five book chapters. He is on the editorial boards of Clinical Epigenetics, Epigenomes, Frontiers in Molecular Biosciences, Frontiers in Environmental Science, Frontiers in Ecology and Evolution, and Annals of Nutritional Disorders and Therapy. He is on the board of directors of the Epigenetics Society and the organizer and chair of the First Epigenetics Society International Meeting 2023. His main research interest is in neurodegenerative diseases, one-carbon metabolism and methylation reactions in relation to regulation of gene expression. In the field of basic science, he is interested in the dynamics of DNA methylation/demethylation and the study of non-CpG methylation. At applicative levels, he studies epigenetics, nutrition, and one-carbon metabolism in neurodegeneration and muscle differentiation.
