Ruhul Abid, MD, PhD, FAHA, is an Associate Professor at Brown University Alpert Medical School and a member of the Global Health Advisory Committee of the Center for Global Health Equity. Dr. Abid completed a fellowship and served as an Assistant Professor at Harvard Medical School until 2011. He received many national and international accolades, including the 6th Annual Investigator Award in Thrombosis in 2006, the Werner Risau Investigator Award in Vascular Biology in 2011, and a Fellow of the American Heart Association (FAHA) in 2019. For his humanitarian services and successful implementation model of healthcare intervention for vulnerable populations and refugees. Dr. Abid received the Stars in Global Health Award from Grand Challenges Canada in 2018, the Annual Public Health Award from Bangladesh, and a nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2020. He serves as the Chair of the Clinical Fellowship Committee at AHA and a member of several Study Sections at the NIH and AHA. He has published more than 100 research articles. His research on cardiovascular diseases, with a special focus on oxidant singling been funded by the AHA and NIH since 2004. Currently, he is the Co-Director of a T32 postdoctoral research training program and an MPI of an R25 research training program at Brown. Dr. Abid is regarded as an outstanding mentor with extensive mentoring experience in cardiovascular translational research and large-scale healthcare intervention for vulnerable populations.
