Dr Veldtman is a senior scientist at the South African National Biodiversity Institute and a research associate at the department of Conservation Ecology and Entomology, Stellenbosch University. He works on social wasp and other invasions, pollination ecosystem services, plant–herbivore–parasitoid interactions and insects of economic importance. He has a strong interest in the intersection between the natural system and human land uses. He also contributed to the 2016 assessment report of the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services on pollinators, pollination and food production.
