Prof. Dr. Pornthap Thanonkeo is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biotechnology, Faculty of Technology, Khon Kaen University, Thailand. He received his Bachelor's degree in Plant Sciences from the Rajamangala University of Technology Tawan-ok, Bangpra Campus, Chonburi, Thailand, in 1991, his Master's degree in Biotechnology from Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand, in 1995, and his Doctoral degree in Molecular Biology from Ehime University, Ehime, Japan, in 2000. He has worked as a lecturer and researcher at Khon Kaen University since 1996. His research activities focus on the exploration and utilization of thermotolerant yeasts and bacteria for ethanol and alcoholic beverage production, the application of genetic manipulation for strain improvement, and the micropropagation and production of bioactive compounds from medicinal plants in Thailand. He has been a member of Thailand's Science and Technology Society and the Asian Society of Natural Products.
