This paper deals with the geometrical characteristics and their influence on the functionality and safety of satellite dishes. Within the paper, a number of 3D models of satellite dishes were formed. All models were established in the software program SolidWorks, and the same software package was used for the analysis of the air flow over the satellite antenna for the conditions at the territory of Belgrade. The analysis of the model provides an insight into the geometrical characteristics of the satellite dishes which would be the most appropriate to adopt in accordance with the requirements of the final product functionality and security. The analysis is based on laboratory tests, which were conducted on satellite dishes. On that occasion, it was concluded that the geometrical characteristics of the antenna itself greatly affect the functionality and safety. In order to simplify and to make a better financial approach to designing the final product-satellite dish, a basic analysis was carried out on the 3D models whose geometric characteristics can be changed . The models were analyzed to yield an optimal solution, since it is possible to get the final product. The paper justifies forming a 3D model and analysing it, and shows the simplicity of the product geometry changes. The obtained final product is to a very large extent functional since it has been tested in the conditions - +-close to the real system where the product should operate.

This paper gives an insight into the design of concentrating solar power (CSP) systems. The basic design of several types of CSP system is presented alongside their advantages and disadvantages. These advantages and disadvantages are based on their application and construction details and the paper shows how to select the most convenient CSP system. After presenting these types of CSP systems, an example of a new type of design is explained that presents a combination of several other solar concentrators.

A Mechanical Integrator is a mechanical device which can be used to obtain the continual integration of the input variable value. This paper explains the operational principles and discloses the simulation and motion study results of the mechanical integrator 3D model assembly. Specifically, 3D models of the input function generator, the ball and disc integrator and the output x-y plotter are created and their operations are simulated. This work is significant mainly for education in the fields of solid modelling, mechanism synthesis and scientific visualization of the mechanism motion and operation. In particular, the motion analysis presented in this paper visualizes and discloses the mutual relationship between the integration calculus as the mathematical operation and the geometrical and kinematical characteristics of one special type of mechanical computing device.

The escapement is a very important horological invention and it is commonly used in theory of clocks and chronometers. It transfers energy to the timekeeping element and allows the number of its oscillations to be counted. The chronometer detent escapement used in marine chronometers was modified and simplified by Thomas Earnshaw, English renowned watchmaker, in order to make it available to the public. This chapter deals with 3D modeling and assembling of all escapement parts in SolidWorks, as well as constructive geometry of mechanism and computer simulation. The whole process has been accomplished in program “SolidWorks 2016,” where all parts are assembled by using standard mates since this approach is suitable for motion and dynamical analysis. Generated simulation results are very close to the real ones, thereby using computationally strong kinematic solvers.

This paper investigates the influence of different geometrical structures on new concepts for the formation of technical systems. The ability of some geometric structures to withstand a certain level of deformation, was used to replace joints in certain assemblies of technical systems. Now, all movements are accomplished with deformation of geometrical structures. Obtained results from simulations define the level of deformation which structures can withstand. Designing of 3D models and simulations were conducted in SOLIDWORKS 2016. Several different structures of metamaterials will be examined. Sixty-four simulations were conducted by changing the internal structure, thickness and orientation of metamaterials. For each simulation, the results were presented as stresses and displacements. Additionally, three model of pliers have been simulated, and its results were compared with the results from previous simulations.

Gaspard Monge is known as the father of modern descriptive and differential geometry. In 1764, he was engaged to draw a detailed plan of a fortification in his hometown, which was seen by an officer at the École Royale du Génie de Mézières. This plan was a success and his techniques were marked as a military secret for a long period of time. In 1780, he was elected to the Academy of Science and participated in the work of the Commission for Weights and Measures, that was in charge of moving the system from imperial to metric. In 1794, Monge helped setting up the École Centrale des Travaux Publics (later École Polytechnique) where he was lecturing Descriptive Geometry. In 1798, Napoleon undertook a campaign in Egypt. The famous chemist Claude Louis Berthollet was asked to recruit prominent scientists. Among them were Fourier, Monge, Dolomieu and Malus. Institut d'Egypte was established by Napoleon and Monge was named as its first president. Monge passed away on July 28, 1818. His name is inscribed on the base of the Eiffel Tower and it is located on the third façade opposite the Military Academy. Besides descriptive geometry, he carried on many different researches in chemistry and physics.
