Dr. Sanjay Gupta

Dr. Sanjay Gupta is a professor and research director. He holds the Carter Kissell Endowed Chair in Urologic Oncology at the Department of Urology at Case Western Reserve University and The Urology Institute at the University Hospitals Case Medical Center. He also holds secondary appointments at the Departments of Nutrition and Division of General Medical Sciences at Case Comprehensive Cancer Center. He has a joint appointment as a research scientist at the Louis Stokes VA Medical Center, Cleveland, Ohio. He obtained a faculty position in 2002 at Case Western Reserve University, School of Medicine. His research involves basic, translational, and clinical areas of focus. In basic research, he focuses on understanding the risk factors and mechanisms of prostatic and bladder diseases and developing appropriate biomarkers for early detection and prognosis. His clinical research interest is the translation of bench research to clinical applications. Dr. Gupta has authored some 150 publications, including book chapters, research articles, and reviews, and has spoken at cancer prevention symposiums, seminars, and meetings on several occasions. He has been serving in various study sections at the National Cancer Institute (NCI), the Department of Defense (DOD), and other councils around the globe.
