Orazio Nicolotti is a full professor of medicinal chemistry at the Dipartimento di Farmacia-Scienze del Farmaco, Università di Bari ‘Aldo Moro’ (Italy), where he is the head of the molecular and data modeling lab. He graduated in Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Technology with full marks and praise in 1997 and received a PhD degree in Medicinal Chemistry in 2001 at the Università di Bari ‘Aldo Moro’ (Italy). He was then awarded a 2-year postdoc at the University of Sheffield (UK) with a grant funded by GlaxoSmithKline to run a project entitled Evolutionary Computation Methods for drug discovery. He has major skills in drug design, QSAR, chemoinformatics, predictive toxicology, combinatorial library design, evolutionary algorithms, artificial intelligence, docking and molecular dynamics.
