Marcelo Cohen is Professor of the Faculty of Oceanography and the Graduate Program of Geology and Geochemistry at the Federal University of Pará-Brazil. As a paleoclimatologist and paleoecologist he has worked on the Holocene history of mangrove dynamics on the Brazilian coast and in the Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean regions. His research interests include the use of remote sensing, fossil pollen, and stable isotopes to reconstruct environments according to sea-level fluctuations and climate changes on decadal to millennial time scales.
