Theoretically, geopolitical risk and policy uncertainties can directly affect energy markets. Since fluctuations in it lead to cost the of clean energy sources as they compete with traditional energy. Regarding this, our study aims to scrutinize the impact of geopolitical oil price uncertainty on clean energy stocks by controlling the influences of economic policy uncertainty, gold, natural gas, and coal prices. For that purpose, the study utilized monthly data from July 2007 to September 2020 and employed a machine learning method, namely kernel-based regularized least squares approach. Empirical analysis reveals that geopolitical oil price uncertainty and coal prices have a nonlinear positive effect on clean energy stock prices. It is also found that the impact of global economic policy uncertainty, gold, and natural gas prices on clean energy stock prices is nonlinear and negative. The implication signifies that clean energy stock prices are hampered by economic policy uncertainty, and gold, and natural gas prices, thus hindering the development of clean energy sources. Similarly, for the robustness of the study, the quantile regression approach and findings reveal similar outcomes to that of the KRLS model. Based on these findings, policy implications that potentially aid renewable energy investments are put forward. The study also guides investors, financial advisors, and portfolio managers for better decision-making in consideration of uncertainties and associated fluctuations in energy markets and commodity prices.
This study examines the influence of corporate governance mechanisms on the sustainable economic performance of the textile industry in Pakistan. Performance is measured by using a global reporting initiative (GRI 201–1), an economic performance approach. The composite corporate governance mechanism index (CGMI) construction consists of five sub-indices: board of directors, disclosure and transparency, audit committee, shareholder rights, and remuneration committee. The empirical analysis demonstrated the consistency of the fixed effect model through the Hausman model specification test for data from textile firms listed on the Pakistan Stock Exchange from 2008 to 2023. However, the investigation has invoked the Generalized Method of Moments (GMM) estimation model to check its robustness. The findings indicated the positive empirical relationship between the composite CGMI and sustainable economic performance, supported by modified theoretical logics: agency theory, stewardship theory, stakeholder theory, resource-based theory, and transaction-cost theory. The findings support policymakers, regulators, and managers in executing appropriate governance mechanisms with reduced agency cost and transaction costs and improve sustainable performance.
The study aims to investigate the effect of gender bender organizational barriers on women career progression in Commercial Banks in Pakistan. The Perceived barriers were gender stereotype, socio-cultural beliefs, organizational structure, family responsibilities and individual characteristics. To serve that purpose, specifically branches of all public and private banks in twin cities i-e Islamabad and Rawalpindi, were selected. Survey research strategy was adopted to collect data from 252 branches of selected sample. Convenience sampling and random sampling techniques were used to select sample of branches. Self-administered questionnaires were distributed among the three clusters which are top managers, middle managers and sub-ordinate. Collected data was tested on IBM SPSS by using multiple linear regression, descriptive statistics reliability and correlation analysis. The findings indicate that gender-specific organizational systems negatively affect women career progression in banks of Islamabad and Rawalpindi. The theoretical support was provided by gender and feminist theories and Gendered Organizational Structure (GOS) Model” and its three sub-models.
