Miguel-Ángel Manso-Callejo is a telecommunication engineer, and in his PhD thesis (in Geographic engineering) from Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM), a new methodology for automatic generation of metadata that promotes interoperability in Spatial Data Infrastructures (SDI) was proposed.
Since 1992, he works as an Associate Professor at the Topographic, Geodesic, and Cartographic University School (UPM). He currently gives lectures on "Spatial Databases", "Geoinformatics" and "Spatial Data Infrastructures" (SDI) at Bachelor and Master levels.
His research interests are in (i) Automatic generation of geo-information catalogs and dynamic use of them in SDI, a system of systems (SoS), wireless sensors network (WSN), (ii) Web processing services for geographic information applied to planning support systems and decision support systems, (iii) SDI development and volunteered geographical information (VGI) in spatial, climatic, environmental, etc., domains, and (iv) New applications of WSN in environmental monitoring, collecting data for SDI delivering, cataloging and use.
