My research focuses on the design and development of innovative drug delivery systems intended for the oral route, mainly for colon targeting, by the use of various formulation approaches and manufacturing techniques, such as tableting, film-coating, powder-layering, hot-melt extrusion and injection-molding. Particularly, my current project is aimed at identifying physiologically-based combination strategies that may yield improved site-selectivity of release into the lower part of the gastrointestinal tract.
