Faouzi Alaya Cheikh is a Professor of Computer Science at NTNU. He received his B.Sc. (Electronics) from the Department of Electrical Engineering at ENIT, Tunisia, in 1992. He got his M.Sc. (Signal Processing) from the Department of Information Technology, TUT, in 1997. He recieved a Ph.D. in Tech. (Signal Processing) from the Department of Information Technology, TUT, 2004. He worked as an Associate Professor at Gjøvik University College, 2006–2015. He worked as a researcher at TUT, from 1994–2006. He worked as an Electronics Engineer at Société Tunisienne de l´Éléctricité et du Gaz, Sousse, Tunisia 1992-1993. His research interests include machine learning, 3D imaging, image and video processing and analysis, and its application in video surveillance, behaviour analysis, biometrics, video-guided intervention, image-guided navigation, content-based retrieval, and healthcare.
