Dr. Igor B. Rogozin received his PhD in computational biology from the Novosibirsk State University (Russia) in 1992. After that, he served as a visiting scientist at the Institute of Advanced Technologies in Milan (Italy) and completed his postdoctoral training at Penn State University (USA). For the last 15 years, Dr. Rogozin has been working on various aspects of molecular evolution and comparative genomics as a Staff Scientist at the National Center for Biotechnology Information, National Library of Medicine, National Institutes of Health (USA). He is also an Adjunct Lecturer at Johns Hopkins University (USA). Dr. Rogozin is an editorial board member of several peer-reviewed journals. He has authored over 200 papers published in internationally peer-reviewed journals, ranging from Science, Nature, and Current Biology to more specialized journals such as Nucleic Acids Research, BMC Genomics, and Bioinformatics. His research interests mainly include comparative analysis of completely sequenced genomes, population genomics of genetic disorders, phylogenetic analysis of sequences, theoretical analysis of mutagenesis, genome biology of carcinogenesis, computational analysis of functional regions and signals in biological sequences, comparative genomics of introns, computational analysis of mobile elements, and comparative genomics of defense/offense systems in pro- and eukaryotes.
