Biography

Alexander Churyumov, PhD, is an Associate Professor of the Department of Metallurgy of Non-Ferrous Metals, National Research University "MISiS". He is a specialist in the field of modelling the structure and properties of metal-based materials. He directly supervised significant research projects on modelling structure formation in the process of thermomechanical processing of steels and heat-resistant alloys. He actively participated in projects devoted to studying metallic alloys' properties, bulk metal glasses, functional materials based on iron with an amorphous and nanocrystalline structure, metal matrix composite materials, alloys without a basic alloying element (high-entropy materials) and additive technologies. With his participation, two scientific laboratories were organised at NUST MISIS: "Physical modelling of thermomechanical processes" and "Advanced Green Materials". He is a co-author of more than 150 publications, including more than 90 in high-ranking journals indexed in the Web of Science and Scopus citation systems (H-index 21), 10 patents and computer programs. He was a top reviewer of 2019 in Materials Science according to Publons system. He has developed and read more than 10 training courses in metal science, including for students of the English-language master program of NUST MISIS. He supervised 13 graduate qualification works of bachelors, 9 master's theses and 3 PhD dissertations.
