Fred Luciano Neves Santos held a bachelor's degree in Pharmacy and Biochemistry from the Federal University of Bahia, a master's degree in Human Pathology from the Federal University of Bahia, and a Ph.D. in Biosciences and Biotechnology in Health from Fiocruz-PE. He is currently a researcher at the Gonçalo Moniz Institute (IGM, Fiocruz-BA), where his focus is on studies aimed at discovering diagnostic biomarkers for infectious and parasitic diseases. He is a permanent faculty member of the Postgraduate Program in Biotechnology in Health and Investigative Medicine at the Gonçalo Moniz Institute, where he is responsible for teaching the course on Development of Diagnostic Tools for Pathogen Identification. He also coordinates the Interdisciplinary Research Group on Biotechnology and Epidemiology of Infectious Diseases (GRUPIBE). Furthermore, he serves as the coordinator of the Translational Research Program on Chagas Disease (Fio-Chagas).
