Dimitrios Z. Politis was born in Athens (Greece) in 1994. He received his BSc degree in Electronic Engineering (2017) from the Piraeus University of Applied Sciences. He also received a Master's degree (by research) in 2020 from the department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering of the University of West Attica in the field of complex systems time-series analysis with application to pre-seismic signals recorded by ground-based stations. At the same time, as part of his MSc studies, he contributed to the installation and experimental operation of a ground-based VLF/LF receiver for sub-ionospheric propagation signals at the department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering / Laboratory of Electronics and Computer Technologies (ECT Lab). Dimitrios Politis is now a PhD student in the same department and a member of the ECT Lab research team. He is mainly interested in the study of pre-seismic anomalies or other precursors that are imprinted in various observable time series before the occurrence of extreme phenomena.
