My research focuses on antimicrobial resistance and zoonotic patogens in veterinary and food microbiology. I investigate both the normal and pathogenic microbiom of animales, poultry and fish aiming to better understand host-microbe intercations and factors influencing microbial balance and disease emergence. Also, my work explores natural antimicrobial compounds, including plant-derived phytochemicals and essential oils and their incorporation into functional biomaterials such as fibers, hydrogels and nanoparticles. By integrating microbiology, oxidative stress research and biomaterials sciences, I seek to develop sustainable strategies that support infection control and microbial equilibrium within a One Health framework.
