I am Dr. Isabella Mascio, with a degree in Biotechnology for Food Quality and Safety and a PhD in Agricultural and Environmental Biodiversity, specialized in Plant Genetics and Biotechnology. I have developed my professional experience through both academic research and collaborations with private companies, focusing primarily on woody species such as grapevine and olive, while also working on other cultivated plants. My research interests include plant biodiversity, molecular and genetic characterization, and the traceability of agro-food products. I authored a scientific review on the use of molecular markers for traceability in the olive oil supply chain, published in Trends in Food Science & Technology. I also conduct gene expression analyses, both at the single-gene level and using next-generation sequencing technologies. I actively contribute to multidisciplinary projects aimed at improving genetic traceability, cultivar authentication, and the molecular understanding of traits relevant to sustainable agriculture and food quality.
