Dr. Katrine Soma
holds a PhD in Economics, specializing in stakeholder participation in complex
environmental management. She has worked since 2009 as a scientist at
Wageningen University and Research (WUR), carrying out research on
urban–rural food system analysis, poverty alleviation in sub-Saharan Africa,
marine and aquaculture governance, informational governance, etc. Moreover, she
has a good track record in leading and carrying out successful projects in
Kenya (3RKenya, feeding cities and informal settlements projects). Before her
career as a senior scientist at WUR, she worked for the FAO (1998–2002) following
two assignments at ministries in Norway (Education/Agriculture). She
conducted her MSc in the Arusha region of Tanzania (1996), based on a total of
90 interviews with farmers.
