Pedro Company studied Industrial Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV) in
1985, and earned a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the same university in 1989. He
started as an Engineering Graphics assistant professor at UPV in 1985, where he
was a professor from 1990 up to 1994. He joined Jaume I University (UJI) in 1994.
Since 1996, he has been an Engineering Graphics Full professor ("catedrático")
at UJI, as well as Head of the Technology Department from 1995 up to 2005. He
teaches Engineering Graphics mainly in Industrial Engineering, but also in
Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Design. His research fields of interest
are centered on Computer-Aided Design, Computer Graphics, and Sketch-Based
Modeling. He has been involved in Emotional Design and Collaborative
Product Engineering too. Now, he is still taking part in the development and
applicability of a new sketch-based modeling engine. He works as well on the
development of methods and tools for quality assurance of CAD models. His research, both in the quality of CAD models and in
obtaining CAD models from sketches, is multidisciplinary, as it requires
developing methods and procedures specific to communication, computing, and
electronics engineering to solve design problems of industrial products, which
belong to the subfield of mechanical and production technologies.
