Dr. Silvia Dossena, PhD, is the interim Director of the Institute of Pharmacology and Toxicology at Paracelsus Medical University in Salzburg, Austria. She received her Master's degree in Biology at the Università degli Studi di Milano, Italy, in 1999 and completed her PhD studies in Physiology at the same university in 2003. She did her postdoctoral training at the Department of Biomolecular Sciences and Biotechnology, Università degli Studi di Milano, from 2004 to 2007. Her research interests include the molecular mechanisms of genetic, drug-induced, and age-related hearing loss and the role of ion exchangers and channels as targets of oxidative stress in the development of age-related diseases.
