Dr. Daniele Finocchiaro is responsible for the development of new services within the Technical Department at Eutelsat, with 20 years' experience in satellite applications. He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa, Italy. After an experience in computer security, he joined Eutelsat in 1999. Over the years, he contributed to innovative projects in the satellite telecommunication scenario, such as: the first consumer-level Internet access service; in-flight, in-train and maritime connectivity; video distribution over IP; direct broadcasting towards smartphones; new low-cost communication systems; quantum cryptography. He is the author of conference and journal papers, and co-inventor of a dozen patents. He is currently working on satellite technologies for Internet of Things and on the architecture of satellite quantum communication systems.
