Chunhua Qiu is a Professor in the Research Team on Marine Small- and Medium-Scale Processes and Environmental Effects at the Sun Yat-Sen University. She earned a bachelor's degree from the Ocean University of China in 2006, a master's degree from the South China Sea Institute of Oceanology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2009, and a doctorate from Tohoku University in 2012. She is also the director of the Ocean Dynamics and Climate Teaching and Research Section at the School of Marine Sciences at Sun Yat-sen University. She is also a member of the Youth Planning Committee of the 2029 World Ocean Observing Conference and a board member of the Journal of Underwater Unmanned Systems.
