Information

I have been working on the rhizobium-legume symbiotic interaction since early 90s. Most of my career has been carried out in The Deparment of Microbiology of te University of Sevilla, where we are working on Sinorhizobium fredii HH103, a broad-host range rhizobial strain able to nodulate with dozens of different legumes, including the important crop soybean (American and Asiatic varieties). We are interested in determining the complete set of bacterial molecular signals (Nodulation factors, suface polysaccharides and type 3 secreted effectors) relevant to the different symbiosis in which HH103 is able to participate. We are also interested in deciphering the complex regulatory networks involved, and for that purpose we are using genomic and transcriptomic approaches. In adition, in my postdoctoral stay at the lab of Dra. Eva Kondorosi, I pariticpated in the siloation and functional characterización of Mtccs52A, the first FZR-protein described in plants.
