Endometriosis is a chronic disease of unclear aetiology that affects millions of women around the world. It causes chronic pain, dysmenorrhea, and infertility, which significantly reduces the quality of daily life. The aim of the following study was a multivariate analysis of the functioning of women diagnosed with endometriosis, and the identification of the relationship between the level of physical activity and sexual functioning, ability to cope with stress, and the degree of anxiety and mood disorders. The prospective survey was conducted of 957 women. The research was carried out using standardised IPAQ, FSFI, HADS, and Mini-Cope questionnaires. The study showed that patients with endometriosis exhibit a higher level of depression and anxiety disorders (p = 0.01) and a lower level of sexual functions (p < 0.001). The influence of physical activity on the functioning of patients with endometriosis was demonstrated. Depending on the clinical stage of endometriosis, the influence of physical activity on individual aspects of life differed. Physical activity was shown, inter alia, to reduce anxiety (p = 0.015), and influence stress-coping strategies. Endometriosis affects the mental and physical health of women. Physical activity can reduce the severity of endometriosis symptoms and improve the daily functioning of patients.

Introduction: Volleyball is a sport that causes injuries very often. They often result from the lack of an appropriate warm-up, the intensity of exercises that do not match the body's capabilities, or the use of inadequate techniques and poorly selected sports equipment. The aim of the study was to compare the injuries of people who play volleyball professionally with people who play volleyball.Material and methods: The research was conducted among 144 volleyball players - 75 women (52.08%) and 69 men (47.92%). They were in three age groups: 18-20, 21-25 and over 25 years of age. The group was divided according to the type of game, i.e. whether it is a professional (49.31%) or a hobbyist (50.69%). Each of the volleyball players completed the questionnaire. Results: The group playing volleyball professionally comprised 71 people (49.31%), while the amateur group comprised 73 people (50.69%). Among people professionally training volleyball, injuries were observed in 64 (90.14%) people, while among people training amateur volleyball, injuries occurred more often in as many as 70 (95.89%) people. The most common trauma in the first and second groups was sprain, which occurred in the first group in 27 (38.03%) people, and in the second group - 26 (35.62%).Conclusions: Sprains are the most common injuries among people who play volleyball professionally and as a hobby. Most people who play volleyball professionally after an injury benefited from rehabilitation.

Introduction: Comprehensive cardiac rehabilitation is a standard therapeutic procedure in patients after cardiac surgery. Its course depends on many factors. One of them is smoking. Exposure of the body to tobacco compounds reduces the supply of oxygen to the organs, which in turn has a damaging effect on the heart tissue. Objective: The aim of this study is to determine the effect of smoking on the effectiveness of rehabilitation in patients after cardiac surgery.Materials and methods: The research was carried out at the Department of Cardiac Surgery, SPSK 2, Pomeranian Medical University in Szczecin. The research was conducted among 35 patients, divided into 3 groups. The first group of 9 people (26%) were non-smokers. The second group was assigned to 11 people (31%) who were heavy smokers. The third group consisted of 15 people (43%) who had been addicted to cigarettes in the past. The research tool used in the study was the 6-minute walk test. Results: Non-smokers achieved a greater improvement in the 6-minute test score compared to the group of smokers and ex-smokers, whose mean score was lower by 39.17 m (± 100.80) and 85.74 m (± 80.56), respectively. Conclusion: Smoking may have an impact on the exercise capacity and exercise tolerance in patients after cardiac surgery.

Introduction: Complex cardiac rehabilitation is a basic procedure of therapeutic treatment for patients after cardiac surgeries. The course of operations depends on many factors. The aim of this article is to investigate connections between type 2 diabetes and results of 6-minute walk test among patients after cardiac surgery. Materials and methods: This research was conducted among 111 patients who had cardiac surgery. Those patients were qualified to stay at a stationary cardiac rehabilitation facility. They were divided into two groups: patients with and without diabetes. In the analysis, patients’ medical data and 6-minute walk test results before and after complex rehabilitation were taken into consideration. Results: On the basis of our analysis it was found that patients who have diabetes achieve worse results of 6-minute walk test before (OR=0.995; p=0.005) and after (OR=0.994, p=0.006) complex cardiac rehabilitation in comparison with patients without diabetes. Conclusions: Type 2 diabetes has impact on physical effort tolerance among patients after cardiac surgery. Despite improvement of 6-minute walk test results thanks to complex cardiac rehabilitation, patients with type 2 diabetes walked shorter distance than patients without diabetes.
