Pierre Auger is Director of Research at the Research Institute for Development at the International Joint Unit UMMISCO, Mathematical and Computer Modeling Unit for Complex Systems, which he headed from 2009 to 2013. Pierre Auger is a specialist in mathematical modeling in population dynamics. He contributed to dimension reduction methods in dynamic systems that he implemented in population dynamics. He worked on fisheries modeling in collaboration with INRH, (National Institute for Halieutic Research) in Morocco from 2008 to 2012, and with CRODT (Center de Recherche Océanographique de Dakar-Thiaroye) in Senegal from 2012 to 2017, where he was affected by his research institute, the IRD. Pierre Auger has also worked on modeling the population dynamics of large mammals in Kenya in collaboration with the "African Conservation Center" in Nairobi. Pierre Auger has been a member of the Académie des Sciences since 2003. He is the author of a popular work on mathematical modeling in ecology (Dunod, 2010).
