Prof. Dr. Jacques Huot is a Professor at the Hydrogen Research Institute, Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières, Canada. He holds a Ph.D. in Physics from Université Laval and was a stage post-doctoral researcher at Texas A&M University and AIST, Japan. His research is on understanding and characterizing of metal–hydrogen interactions, especially in metal hydrides. He is also interested in the synthesis of new and low-cost metal hydrides that have storage properties that can be adapted to industrial conditions. He studies the hydrogen-storage properties of nanomaterials and materials that have undergone severe plastic deformation. Another aspect of his research is hydrogen diffusion and the impact of hydrogen on the chemical and physical properties of metallic coatings. He is seeking a fundamental understanding of the effect of changes in chemical composition or crystalline structure on the hydrogen-storage properties of materials. He has a solid expertise in the field of material characterization, especially the use of neutron and synchrotron radiation.
