Prof. Dr. Martin Schwemmle is the Principal Investigator and Professor at the Institute of Virology, Department of Medical Microbiology and Hygiene, Center for Microbiology and Hygiene, Medical Center University of Freiburg, Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany. He earned a Ph.D. at the Faculty of Biology, University of Freiburg in 1992. He was the Group leader at the Institute of Virology, University of Zurich, Switzerland, from 2002 to 2003. His research focuses on zoonotic viruses, aspects of the innate immune response, and molecular biology of RNA viruses.
