Prof. Antonino Catara (retired) was full professor of Plant Pathology at the University of Catania (Italy), where he started in plant virology after a stage on citrus diseases at the University of California, Riverside. He has been leader of various research groups and Chairman of the International Organization of Citrus Virologists and President of the Italian Society of Plant Pathology.
