Biography

The researcher Dr. Luis Hernández has been working in the area of molecular biology applied to cancer research, mainly in the hematopathology speciality, from his PhD in 1992. Along his career has published a total of 48 articles (up to July 2021) in high impact international scientific journals including 5 articles as senior/corresponding author. Dr. Hernández has achieved fundings from competitive projects from FIS-ISCIII, among other projects as a collaborator. The initial research lines of Dr. Hernández in the lab of Dr. Elias Campo (Hospital Clinic de Barcelona) were previously related to cell cycle-related mechanisms of genomic instability and their clinical value in human lymphomas. In 2006-2008 moved to study short non-coding RNAs in mantle cell and follicular lymphomas thanks to funding of FIS-ISCIII. In 2008 he started as a researcher of the I3 Salud program at the Lymphoid Neoplasms Molecular Pathology Lab at IDIBAPS, Barcelona consolidating his independent research line about noncoding RNAs and their pathobiologic role in lymphoid neoplasms. Noticeably, from 2013 and established as a R3A associated researcher at IDIBAPS, he leaded two FIS projects related with long non-coding RNAs in follicular lymphoma. In parallel he also collaborated in a non-coding RNA project on MCL and chronic lymphocytic leukemia with the CRO (Aviano, Italy) funded by the this institution as well as in a current project in this neoplasms funded by La Fundació Marato-TV3.
