Prof. Dr. Umberto Desideri is currently working as a Full Professor of Thermal Machines at the University of Pisa, Italy. He has completed his Ph.D. in Energy Engineering from the University of Florence, Italy. From 1992 to 2014 He was also appointed Professor (different grades) at the  University of Perugia, Italy. He is a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Applied Energy,  Journal of Applied Thermal Engineering, Thermal Science and Engineering Progress, Energies, Frontiers in Energy, and Advances in Applied Energy. He is a fellow member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and an Academician of the Serbian Academy of Sciences. His main area of research interest focuses on innovative and high-efficiency fossil fired power generation systems, renewable energy systems, energy storage, power fuel and power to gas technologies, hydrogen and fuel cells, greenhouse gas emissions mitigation, energy saving in buildings and industry, LCA (life cycle assessment) and carbon footprint studies.
