Stanca M. Ciupe is a Professor at the Department of Mathematics, Virginia Tech. She received her B.S. and M.S. in Mathematics from Babes Bolyai University in 1997 and 1998, respectively, and earned a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from the University of Michigan in 2005. She was a Postdoctoral Researcher at Santa Fe Institute and Los Alamos National Laboratory (2005–2006), a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Duke University Medical Center Laboratory of Computational Immunology (2006–2009), and served as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Mathematics, University of Louisiana at Lafayette (2009–2011), an Assistant Professor (2011–2015) and an Associate Professor (2015–2021) at the Department of Mathematics, Virginia Tech (2011–2015), and a Visiting Associate Professor at the Department of Mathematics, Duke University (2017–2018). She is also a member of the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics, the Society for Mathematical Biology, and the Association for Women in Mathematics. Her research interest is in the field of applied mathematics, specifically, systems of ordinary and delay differential equations and their application to biology and medicine.
