Kimihiro Shimizu completed his Doctor of Medicine at Gunma University and is a Professor at the Division of General Thoracic Surgery, Department of Surgery, School of Medicine, Shinshu University. He has received numerous awards, including the General Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery (GTCS) Best Reviewer Award 2019, the Gunma University Medical Association Award 2018, and the General Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery (GTCS) Outstanding Paper Award 2017. He is also a member of the Japanese Association for Research on the Thymus (JART), the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC), and the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO).
