Valya Vassileva currently works at the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, Institute of Plant Physiology and Genetics, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. She received her M.Sc. at the Faculty of Biology, Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski, Sofia, Bulgaria in 1986 and her Ph.D. at the Acad. M. Popov Institute of Plant Physiology, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS), Sofia, Bulgaria in 2000. She has been a member of the Union of Scientists in Bulgaria, the Subdivision of Plant Physiology and Biochemistry and the Federation of European Societies of Plant Biology (FESPB). Her research interests include root development, epigenetic regulation of gene expression, DNA methylation, maintenance of DNA methyltransferases, abiotic stress, model plants, hormone signaling, nuclear migration and cell cytoskeletons.
