Yuri Vorotnikov, born in 1992, joined NIIC SB RAS in 2011 when he was a chemistry student at the Novosibirsk State University to work on his MChem dissertation. After successfully presenting his MChem dissertation in 2015, he was offered the opportunity to continue his study as a PhD student and, in 2019, he received the Candidate of Chemical Sciences academic degree. In his research, he explores the potential that octahedral molybdenum clusters and the related compounds can offer for application in different areas, such as the development of photocatalysts, agents for cell visualization, photodynamic therapy, photoactive dopants for antibacterial coatings, radiopaque agents, etc. His research has resulted in 40 papers being published in peer-reviewed journals with high impact. He also undertook a two-month international visit to the world-leading group of Prof. Kitamura (Japan) at Hokkaido University as part of a short-stay program. The success of Y. Vorotnikov in chemical research has been recognized by a number of awards, including an international one: the Special Prize in the Topsoe PhD Students Competition 2017, which was awarded for Fundamental Importance. Hirsch index (h-index) = 15.
