Dr. E. Sahle-Demessie is a senior chemical engineer and research team leader for the US Environmental Protection Agency, Office of Research and Development with more than 25 years of professional experience. His research focuses on seeking engineering solutions to emerging contaminants of concern, including developing sustainable water-treatment technologies such as AOTs and desalination processes, strategies to reduce the risks of emerging contaminants of concern, innovative technologies for the treatment of PFAS, and sustainable management of solid waste including electronic waste and plastics. Dr. Sahle-Demessie has published over 130 peer reviewed research papers, 75+ proceeding documents and 250+ abstracts and presentations.
