She received a doctorate in Biological Sciences in 2012, from Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM). She is a researcher in Medical Sciences at the Regional Hospital of High Specialty of Ixtapaluca, and is a professor of Medical Mycology at the UNAM, Mexico. She belongs to the National System of Researchers Level 1, Mexico. Her research is directed at opportunistic pathogenic fungi, especially Candida spp., addressing issues of diagnosis and molecular epidemiology.
