By moving a commercial 2D LiDAR, 3D maps of the environment can be built, based on the data of a 2D LiDAR and its movements. Compared to a commercial 3D LiDAR, a moving 2D LiDAR is more economical. A series of problems need to be solved in order for a moving 2D LiDAR to perform better, among them, improving accuracy and real-time performance. In order to solve these problems, estimating the movements of a 2D LiDAR, and identifying and removing moving objects in the environment, are issues that should be studied. More specifically, calibrating the installation error between the 2D LiDAR and the moving unit, the movement estimation of the moving unit, and identifying moving objects at low scanning frequencies, are involved. As actual applications are mostly dynamic, and in these applications, a moving 2D LiDAR moves between multiple moving objects, we believe that, for a moving 2D LiDAR, how to accurately construct 3D maps in dynamic environments will be an important future research topic. Moreover, how to deal with moving objects in a dynamic environment via a moving 2D LiDAR has not been solved by previous research.

For a rotating 2D lidar, the inaccurate matching between the 2D lidar and the motor is an important error resource of the 3D point cloud, where the error is shown both in shape and attitude. Existing methods need to measure the angle position of the motor shaft in real time to synchronize the 2D lidar data and the motor shaft angle. However, the sensor used for measurement is usually expensive, which can increase the cost. Therefore, we propose a low-cost method to calibrate the matching error between the 2D lidar and the motor, without using an angular sensor. First, the sequence between the motor and the 2D lidar is optimized to eliminate the shape error of the 3D point cloud. Next, we eliminate the attitude error with uncertainty of the 3D point cloud by installing a triangular plate on the prototype. Finally, the Levenberg–Marquardt method is used to calibrate the installation error of the triangular plate. Experiments verified that the accuracy of our method can meet the requirements of the 3D mapping of indoor autonomous mobile robots. While we use a 2D lidar Hokuyo UST-10LX with an accuracy of ±40 mm in our prototype, we can limit the mapping error within ±50 mm when the distance is no more than 2.2996 m for a 1 s scan (mode 1), and we can limit the mapping error within ±50 mm at the measuring range 10 m for a 16 s scan (mode 7). Our method can reduce the cost while the accuracy is ensured, which can make a rotating 2D lidar cheaper.

An accurate dynamic model is a prerequisite for realizing precise control of industrial robots. The dynamics research of multi-degree of freedom (DOF) robots is relatively unexplored and needs to be solved urgently. In this paper, a dynamic modeling method of multibody system of 6-DOF robot is proposed based on the screw theory. The established dynamic model has a more concise and unified mathematical form, and the modular matrix expression is convenient for the control of the robot. In order to ensure that the screw method is suitable for motion in a wide range of angles, quaternions are used as generalized angular coordinates, and the model established thereby eliminates singularities and improves computational efficiency. The correctness and accuracy of the screw method is verified by the simulation example, and the modeling theory and method can provide a theoretical basis for the precise control of the robot.

Identifying accurate dynamic parameters is of great significance to improving the control accuracy of industrial robots, but this area is relatively unexplored in the research. In this paper, a new algorithm for accurately identifying the dynamic parameters of a 6-degrees-of-freedom (DOF) robot is proposed by establishing a dynamic model. First, a multibody dynamic model of the robot is established, which can decouple the dynamic parameters of the rigid bodies that make up the robot. Decoupling is the basis of parameters identification. In order to ensure that the model is suitable for large-angle range motion and has good real-time performance, quaternion is used as the angle coordinate, and the model established thereby eliminates the singularity and improves the calculation efficiency. Second, the dynamic model is rewritten, and the dynamic parameters are separated as the parameters to be identified; thus, the parameters identification model is obtained. Furthermore, an identification algorithm based on the least-squares method is proposed, which can realize the accurate identification of dynamic parameters. The algorithm is verified by a simulation example. The results show that the value of the maximum absolute error of the identified parameters is −0.0264, and the maximum relative error is 0.031%, which proves the correctness and accuracy of the algorithm.

At present, the absolute positioning accuracy and control accuracy of industrial serial robots need to be improved to meet the accuracy requirements of precision manufacturing and precise control. An accurate dynamic model is an important theoretical basis for solving this problem, and precise dynamic parameters are the prerequisite for precise control. The research of dynamics and parameter identification can greatly promote the application of robots in the field of precision manufacturing and automation. In this paper, we study the dynamical modeling and dynamic parameter identification of an industrial robot system with six rotational DOF (6R robot system) and propose a new method for identifying dynamic parameters. Our aim is to provide an accurate mathematical description of the dynamics of the 6R robot and to accurately identify its dynamic parameters. First, we establish an unconstrained dynamic model for the 6R robot system and rewrite it to obtain the dynamic parameter identification model. Second, we establish the constraint equations of the 6R robot system. Finally, we establish the dynamic model of the constrained 6R robot system. Through the ADAMS simulation experiment, we verify the correctness and accuracy of the dynamic model. The experiments prove that the result of parameter identification has extremely high accuracy and the dynamic model can accurately describe the 6R robot system mathematically. The dynamic modeling method proposed in this paper can be used as the theoretical basis for the study of 6R robot system dynamics and the study of dynamics-based control theory.

In this paper, the H∞ and H2 time-varying formation tracking problems for multi-agent systems with directed topologies in the presence of external disturbances are investigated. The followers need to achieve the desired time-varying formation during movement and simultaneously track the state trajectory generated by the leader. First, a distributed consensus protocol based on the local state information of neighbors of the agents for solving H∞ and H2 time-varying formation tracking problems are proposed without utilizing global information about the entire agents. The conditions to achieve H∞ and H2 time-varying formation tracking in the presence of external disturbances are suggested respectively. Then, to determine the parameters of the designed protocol which satisfy suitable conditions, algorithms for H∞ and H2 time-varying formation tracking in the form of pseudo-code are presented, respectively. Furthermore, the proofs of the proposed theorems are derived by utilizing algebraic graph theory and Lyapunov analysis theory tools to demonstrate the closed-loop stability of the system in the presence of external disturbances. Finally, the usefulness and effectiveness of the approaches proposed are demonstrated by numerical simulation examples.
